ABOUT LEE FAURIE

I GREW UP IN MEDIA

LONG BEFORE IT BECAME MY CAREER

Music. Radio. Photography. Film. Performance. Production. Creative.

I've spent my life around people making content for an audience. My dad was a musician, so my earliest memories are of gigs, festivals and travelling around the country. In my teens I interned in radio, got my first camera and started filming EVERYTHING. I got a BA in Film and Media and built a career spanning film, commercials, photography, production, creative and everything in between over the last 25 years.

Afterimage Cult came from all of it.

An afterimage is what stays with you after the original image is gone. The Cult is the network of talented people I've worked with and collected along the way. Together, they describe how I work: ideas that last, people who know how to make them happen, and an understanding of what happens before, during and after something gets made.

Afterimage Cult connects creative direction, marketing strategy and content production.

MEDIA CHANGED.
SO DID THE METHOD.

Over the last few decades, brand communication has changed completely.

Campaigns no longer live in a few hero films and stills. They move across social platforms and communities, every day.

Campaigns must adapt. Afterimage Cult has.

Using 25+ years of production experience, research, problem-solving and practical thinking, we help brands, agencies and production companies work out what content they actually need.

The medium changed. The thinking still matters.

TESTIMONIALS

“I worked with Lee for many years, and she was one of those rare people I trusted with my eyes closed.

Incredibly meticulous and organised, she was always thinking three steps ahead, anticipating what we hadn’t thought of yet, finding solutions and knowing exactly who to call, where to look and how to approach people.

Her knowledge of Cape Town, its locations and its extraordinary network of contacts is second to none, but what really sets her apart is her instinct: she understands the creative idea, sees what it will take to make it happen, and gets it done.

Having Lee on a project simply makes everything better.”

Founder & Executive Producer · Evidencia Productions

"Working with Lee is an absolute treat, and the highlight of any job!  Locations are the first things to get briefed and can set the tone for a job and having Lee on board sets the tone for success! Lee listens actively to the brief, really interrogates the thinking to be able to bring relevant suggestions to the table.  She always has the most current info on the locations, checks availability before recommending places and makes great alternative suggestions if things are not available or out of our budget.  Lee is very proactive, her communication is thorough with the production team as well as location agents and owners.  Once I have briefed Lee, I know that the process is running and she regularly updates me on progress and always delivers what she promises.  You are in safe hands with Lee."

Lee-Anne Jacobz

Producer · Bioscope Films

"Lee played a big role in a large car commercial we shot. She was a key player between Production and our Unit team. She had a big job on her hands. It was a 5 day shoot entailing locking down multiple roads within the city, covering 9 city blocks. This came with many logistical challenges which Lee helped manage for us. One of the key tasks was liaising with multiple Store Owners, Hotels, Body Cooperates and Residents, to ensure we correctly managed and navigated the permissions required to pull off our shoot. During shoot and at wrap, Lee managed the locations ensuring all ran smoothly.
Lee was a valuable asset to the production and helped us pull off a very successful job!"
